Oakland, California (PRWEB) October 01, 2013 -- With three decades of experience and more than 1,800 cases, Claude D. Ames is known in Oakland’s legal circles for his services as a mediator and arbitrator. With the launch of his new website, http://www.claudeamesarbmed.com, Ames will be reaching a larger audience with his expertise.
“My goal is to educate people about mediation and arbitration,” Ames said. “Many people are not aware of the benefits of them and how they can save money and time by avoiding a lengthy and expensive court battle.”
A Vietnam veteran, Ames is a graduate of the Hastings College of Law at the University of California, where he first became issued in mediation. Ames represents mediation clients in cases involving real estate, business, contract, divorce, child custody and other family issues. These cases are some of the most contentious in the court system.
“Mediation brings everyone to the table and gives everyone a voice,” Ames said. “And what is said in mediation stays in mediation. The privacy of the negotiations is one of the perks.”
Arbitration is also private and not part of the public record of court cases. Arbitration settlements can be binding or non-binding, as Ames points out on his website.
“The difference between binding and non-binding is whether or not you can appeal,” Ames said. “A binding arbitration cannot be appealed but a non-binding arbitration can be appealed.”
The website also answers questions about bankruptcy. Ames represents clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases. Information on all the legal services Ames provides is included in the News and Resources section of the website.
“I want anyone looking for legal services to be able to find the information they need on the website,” Ames said. “I will be adding more on the News and Resources section that will include more about me and the legal industry.”
