Jeffrey Fink, a collaborative lawyer, mediator and arbitrator in Massachusetts, has agreed to become the co-chair of the Civil Committee of the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council (http://www.massclc.org). MCLC is an interdisciplinary community of professionals dedicated to resolving legal disputes out of court. Having already served on MCLC’s Public Education Committee, Fink is bringing his experience in settling a wide range of business and family disputes to the organization.
“Collaborative Law is an exciting technique for resolving disputes out of court by creating a framework for interest-based negotiations. The Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council and its members have been thought leaders in the development of Collaborative Law in the divorce world. We are now in the forefront of bringing it to the world of civil disputes” says Fink. “My predecessors have been a dynamic group, and I look forward to serving MCLC as Co-Chair of the Civil Committee.”
Fink added, “The coming year will feature some significant events, including trainings in Civil Collaborative Law and new public education outreach materials. As Co-Chair of the Committee, I hope both to raise the profile of Civil Collaborative Law and toparticipate in its evolution.”
Members of MCLC work with individuals, groups, and businesses to settle family, inheritance, employment and other civil disputes. “Working as a mediator and arbitrator before adding Collaborative Law to my practice, I have always focused on using a creative, deal-oriented approach to all areas of my work,” says Fink, who is no stranger to working collaboratively to find the best path toward dispute resolution. “It is a privilege to work with so many people involved with the Massachusetts Collaborative Law Council whoshare these values.”
Fink’s decades of experience as an attorney at both major international law firms and in smaller settings provides a solid, practical foundation on which he has been able to build his current practice. His dispute resolution work includes both family and civil disputes, and his legal work outside the dispute resolution area has consisted primarily of corporate and commercial transactions and service as outside general counsel to companies in a variety of industries. In addition to his service on the Civil Committee of the MCLC, Fink serves on the Marketing Committee of the Massachusetts Council on Family Mediation and regularly volunteers his time as a mediator and arbitrator for several not for profit organizations.
