Noted family law attorney and in-demand mediation professional John Powell, III recently attended The Texas Board of Legal Specialization’s annual induction ceremony for new specialized attorneys. Powell joined Texas Supreme Court Justice Phil Johnson (who performed the swearing-in) and other judges of the courts of appeals at the exciting event, which included a vibrant program of speakers from the field, a “meet and greet” that gave the newly inducted attorneys the opportunity to speak with several famed experts, and a special “mini-seminar” on how best to leverage the legal specialization for the individual’s benefit.

“I am a firm believer in passing on the knowledge I’ve learned over my career, and in my life,” said Powell. “It’s exciting to see new attorneys being inducted as Board Certified in their chosen fields of specialization, and exciting for us get the opportunity to meet someone like Justice Johnson and the other legitimate ‛superstars’ invited to the event. I was honored and humbled to be among them, in all honesty, and excited to be able to chat with my colleague’s.”

Powell is Board-Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Family Law, and is a certified Mediator with the Texas Mediator Credentialing Association. A graduate of both the University of Tulsa College of Law in Tulsa, Oklahoma for his J.D., and the University of Houston Law Center in Houston, Texas for his LL.M. in Health Law, Powell has been in practice for more than fifteen years as an attorney and a noted alternative dispute resolution professional.
