Employment Law Attorney Lori Adelson’s Star on Rise with FOX News Guest Appearances and Recent Membership in Mediation.com
Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) October 15, 2014 -- With several appearances on FOX News as an advisor on employment law, Lori Adelson’s career has switched into high gear. In addition to joining the fast-growing online mediation portal, Mediation.com, Adelson, the high-profile attorney, recently spoke at the Hospitality Human Resources Association of Broward County (HHRABC) on October 2, 2014 at the Embassy Suites Fort Lauderdale.
Addressing the subject of the proposed legislation in Florida to legalize medical marijuana, Adelson was asked to clarify the complications and dangers of the new law for Florida’s workplace and the business community.
“This proposed legislation creates a whole new set of problems for employers,” Adelson said at the event. “It would protect employees with doctor-prescribed medical marijuana cards from certain negative employment decisions – including refusing to employ or penalizing a person who is a card holder. That can be troubling news for employers as it will make it more difficult than ever to pass over an unsuitable candidate or terminate an undesired employee, even with documented cause.”
Adelson, a former partner at Arnstein & Lehr, LLP in Fort Lauderdale before founding her own firm, is a graduate of Hofstra University School of Law and University of Michigan. She practiced in New York prior to making Florida her home, and in addition to her appearances on FOX News, she is an in-demand speaker as well as a widely published authority on legal employment matters, with articles appearing in publications such as Next in Practitioner Insights, The Fox Business Insider, and The Miami Herald. In addition to her television appearances, Adelson has also been on WIOD Radio, Miami.
Adelson works as a business partner with employers to address issues concerning compensation and benefits, human resources policies and procedures, employee discipline and termination, and defending management in discrimination and wage and other employment related lawsuits in state and federal court. She is frequently engaged to offer training for both employees and supervisors as well, and is a member of Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the Human Resources Association of Broward County (HRABC), and is an Executive Council Member of the Alternate Dispute Resolution Section of the Florida Bar.
