Sonilal joins Medicus Laboratories with more than a decade of experience in the clinical laboratory setting. Prior to becoming Director of Laboratory, Sonilal served as Laboratory Services Director at St. Luke’s Patients Medical Center, overseeing the organization’s operation and performance. She now takes the helm of the Dallas-based toxicology research laboratory who’s recent relocation to the new Midtown neighborhood made headlines as one of Midtown’s most advanced and elite establishments to join the neighborhood. Medicus Laboratories is well-known for their CLIA-approved office laboratory solutions that utilize advanced technology in drug screening to help improve patient safety, meet government regulations and reduce costs for physicians.
Marilyn Sonilal, PhD, MHA, MS, MLT(ASCP)SCCM earned an M.S. in Biochemistry from Mayo Graduate School in 2005, a M.H.A. in Healthcare Administration from Texas Woman’s University in 2007, and a Ph.D. in Healthcare Management from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2013. She joined the Mayo Clinic as a Medical Technologist in 1998 and progressed through the ranks to become Lead Renal Medical Technologist in 2000 and Education Specialist in 2005. Sonilal’s leadership experience includes the posts of Chief Medical Technologist and HPLC Drug Laboratory Supervisor at the University of Texas Medical School in 2009. She became Laboratory Director of St. Luke’s Patients Medical Center in 2012.
Sonilal has successfully maintained certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician and Specialist in Chemistry awarded by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. Sonilal was instrumental in the establishment and revision of St. Luke’s laboratory policies and procedures, and has played a significant role in advancing other major projects including laboratory management, regulation and accreditation compliance. She also has extensive experience in phlebotomy, clinical chemistry, hematology, blood bank and microbiology, as well as in the effective operation of mass spectrometry-liquid chromatography equipment.
