Memoir Follows One Man's Journey from Being a Farm Boy to Becoming a Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (PRWEB) February 05, 2019 -- From the author of “Lend Me a Kiss,” “The Weird Animal Club” and “Bedtime Dinosaur Stories for Kids,” comes a memoir that chronicles one man’s journey from growing up as a farm boy to becoming an internationally recognized pediatric cardiac surgeon.
At the age of 14 years old, author Christopher J. Knott-Craig, MD, had wanted to be a heart surgeon. In “No Crying Allowed” (published by Archway Publishing), with self-deprecating humor, he shares a collection of essays chronicling the trials and tribulations he experienced on his journey to following his dream to succeed.
Inspired by the contributions of Christiaan Barnard, MD, and Donald Ross, MD, in the world of cardiac surgery, Knott-Craig set off on his medical journey. He started his cardiac surgery training in 1980, and about six months later, his professor suggested he try a different specialty. Undaunted, he begged for a second chance, which the professor reluctantly granted. Through perseverance, hard work and determination, Knott-Craig became an internationally recognized pediatric cardiac surgeon.
“This book is many things, but it is essentially a telling of that journey to realize my dreams,” the author shares. By sharing his life story, Knott-Craig hopes to encourage readers to follow their dreams despite the insurmountable obstacles and discouragements that they will face.
