Twenty four clubs participated in the tournament, with players from The Shire London coming to the fore in the final round.

Fourteen-handicapper Dixit Shah won the men’s competition in which the top three players were separated by just two points in the Stableford contest. Gary Wing (Chesfield Downs) and Paul Hanley (Brookmans Park) finished as the runners-up.

Dyrham Park’s Nicola Grossman took the ladies title ahead of The Shire’s Chelsey Stewart, who also had the honour of winning the ladies’ longest drive. Third place went to the host course’s Sue Raj-Guru.

During a successful day’s play, the Brickendon Grange pair of Anne Monk and Paul Deeprose won their respective nearest-the-pin and longest drive competitions whilst Trevor Adrian (South Herts) finished nearest the pin in the men’s event.

Mark Whitworth, Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire’s Group Marketing Manager, said: "Now in its eighth year, the Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire Golf Challenge is now an established fixture of many local golf clubs and the top players from three handicap sections will go forward to represent us in next year’s MercedesTrophy, the world’s largest amateur tournament involving players from 50 nations."

"The reputation of the Mercedes-Benz Hertfordshire Golf Challenge continues to grow year-on-year and we’re already making plans for the 2014 tournament to be the biggest and best yet."
