Metro College Now Offers 10 Training Programs Funded by Second Career Ontario
(PRWEB) July 30, 2014 -- Second Career is a grant program administered by the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and geared towards individuals who are unemployed, laid-off or underemployed. The program provides funds to cover the costs of tuition, books, transportation and living expenses during the training period. Additional support is also available in special circumstances including having dependents or a disability.
Changing careers is a stressful time for any individual. The Ontario Second Career Program identifies occupations in high demand in today’s economy, and helps train individuals to fill the need and enjoy gainful employment upon graduation.
Toronto’s Metro College of Technology is at the forefront of adult education in Ontario and now offers 10 training programs that qualify for funding. Metro College Student Services provide students with the support needed to succeed. Second Career training programs include a co-op job placement component and provide students with the opportunity to apply the skills learned in the classroom, gaining relevant, hands-on experience. The Metro College Department of Co-operative Education is dedicated to helping students liaise with businesses and find job placements relevant to their training and interests.
Metro College Job Preparation Services include resume and cover letter workshops, job search workshops, and interview workshops to help students develop confidence in their newly acquired training, shine during job interviews, and make a smooth transition to a new career.
