Hagie Manufacturing Event for National Manufacturing Day Will Include Speakers Senator Daryl Beall and ICCC President Dr. Dan Kinney
Fort Dodge, IA (PRWEB) September 23, 2014 -- Today's modern day manufacturing companies are about advanced technologies, state of the art facilities and fast paced work environments. Senator Daryl Beall and Iowa Central Community College President Dr. Dan Kinney will be discussing this along with the job opportunities and high tech skilled jobs that go along with manufacturing at the Hagie Manufacturing Open House on October 3rd.
The growing gap in skilled labor is a major challenge facing manufacturers today. More than 82 percent of manufacturers report a moderate or serious shortage in skilled production workers. To address this issue, more people must be inspired to pursue manufacturing careers.
Our community colleges like Iowa Central Community College, provide the training needed to meet these demands. Industrial Technology classes that include welding technology, process technology, engineering and design technology and electrical technology are just a few of the examples of programs taught at community colleges to meet the high tech skilled labor jobs required.
MFG Day 2014 is a celebration of what 12 million people around the United States experience every day – pride at working in manufacturing. The featured manufacturer in our area, Hagie Manufacturing Company, will be open for tours to share exciting, contemporary manufacturing techniques with visitors from their surrounding communities.
Hagie Manufacturing is the leader in manufacturing innovative agricultural sprayers and other high clearance agricultural equipment. The plant is a modern day example of the facilities and highly skilled workforce that today's manufacturers have to offer.
The Open House at Hagie Manufacturing Company located at 721 Central Avenue West in Clarion will be October 3rd from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Tours of the facility and introductions to the manufacturing-related careers will be offered to the public. Media, civic leaders, parents and educators are invited to attend. Food and refreshments along with door prizes will also be provided. Registrations are being taken at Iowa Central Community College to assist with planning for the event.
"Our technology programs provide the basic foundation that today's worker needs in the world of manufacturing," states Lindsay Henderson, TAACCCT Grant Project Manager at Iowa Central Community College. "Hagie Manufacturing demonstrates these job opportunities and gives everyone a firsthand look at the world of manufacturing today."
The event is made possible through partnerships with Elevate Advanced Manufacturing and Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration.
