Maternal & Family Health Services Announces 42nd Annual Meeting Community Luncheon
Wilkes-Barre, PA (PRWEB) October 01, 2013 -- Maternal & Family Health Services, Inc. (MFHS) announces that its 42nd Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors and Community Luncheon will take place on Thursday, October 30th, 2013 at The Westmoreland Club, Wilkes-Barre. The Community Luncheon will feature Bill England, MSW, PA State Director of Enroll America as keynote speaker. The agency will also present several awards, including the Rose Allan Tucker Award.
Maternal & Family Health Services began its journey of service in April 1971, with a vision to improve the quality of family life, promote responsible parenthood and coordinate effective service delivery in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Today, MFHS has grown to a regional organization serving over 120,000 individuals in 16 Pennsylvania counties.
Keynote Speaker Bill England of Enroll America will be discussing engaging different voices in support of an easy, accessible and widely available Affordable Care Act enrollment process. Enroll America is a nonpartisan organization whose mission is to maximize the number of uninsured Americans who enroll in health coverage made available by the Affordable Care Act.
Linda Armstrong of Dress For Success of Luzerne County will be receiving the Rose Tucker Award for her dedication towards making a difference for women in Northeast Pennsylvania and to building the future of our community. The late Rose Tucker was a former Luzerne County Commissioner and long-time employee of MFHS. Since 1996, MFHS has celebrated her legacy by presenting the Rose Tucker Award to a person who demonstrates a deep commitment to improving the quality of life for women, children and families in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
In addition to the Rose Tucker Award, Carolyn Tugend of Education Opportunity Centers will be receiving the Outstanding Community Partner Award for her work with the MFHS Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) program. She works closely with the program, helping clients either return to school or enter the workforce, and has been instrumental in empowering NFP clients to reach their goals.
The Kingston Firefighters will be receiving the Outstanding Public Service Award for their continued support of Nurse-Family Partnership families through food and clothing donations. Frank Zangari of the Schuylkill County Fire Chiefs Association and Citizens Fire Company No. 2 of Mahanoy City are also receiving the Outstanding Public Service Award for their efforts in providing smoke detectors to WIC participants in Schuylkill County.
