DNG Millwork’s Tip Sheet On How to Avoid Common Kitchen Mistakes
Miami, FL (PRWEB) July 22, 2016 -- Dozens of articles are published daily suggesting the trendiest way to remodel a kitchen, making it is easy to get lost in the hype and forget tried and true methods of kitchen design.
“The consequences of a poorly designed kitchen can be disastrous for a household. Trying to appeal to the latest designs of today can mean rejection by real estate buyers tomorrow,” commented Dov Grushka, master carpenter for DnG Millwork, one of the top companies for custom cabinets in Miami.
“The layout of the kitchen follows a rule designers refer to as the “golden triangle”. The golden triangle is anchored by the refrigerator, the sink, and the stove respectively, and connected by paths between. If these three areas are placed conveniently together, than cooking and cleaning will be much easier,” remarks Grushka, “It is important that kitchen design takes this into account. Whether a kitchen is convenient and accessible enough to use will determine if people congregate there or not.”
Another important design aspect is incorporating sufficient storage options in the kitchen. “In the race to have every new appliance, it can be easy to forget storage options to keep all of your stuff. Your kitchen will quickly lose its appeal if you have to walk in to the garage to locate your wok,” suggested Grushka.
Having sufficient lighting is important when designing a new kitchen. Lighting can often spell the difference between a successful meal and an embarrassing ingredient mix-up at your dinner party. “Dedicated task lights can save your eyes (and fingers!). Lighting can be efficient too, with both the U.S. Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency suggesting the installation of fluorescent light bulbs for an annual reduction of 75% on your energy bill.”
Other trends to be popular this year include are bathtub free bathrooms. “Consumers largely prefer a more accessible shower with deluxe faucets over having a bathtub. As for those who spring for one, it is often a freestanding one,” Grushka remarked.
Spending on kitchen renovations is at an all-time high. Most consumers are spending an additional $1000 to $5000 on remodels, driving up property values and making what was once exclusive luxury kitchen amenities more attainable. “We are seeing a surge in renovations this year – more people are seeing the value of renovated spaces and are coming on board,” Grushka commented.
One of the most popular trends within luxury kitchen renovation has been custom kitchen cabinets. “Consumers are starting to see the long-term value in custom cabinetry, and more people are choosing to invest in quality over quantity. Custom cabinets last longer and improve the resale value of the home,” Grushka said.
