Sadness goes hand-in-hand with relocating, but keep in mind why you are moving and embrace the possibilities your new environment has to offer.
Denver, CO (PRWEB) April 08, 2016
Relocating is synonymous with stress, particularly if moving a great distance. It can seem like a Herculean task, not just physically but emotionally. “However, despite the immense toll relocating can take, there are ways to simplify the process,” said Michael Dovel, a broker at RE/MAX Southeast who since 1984 has been a leader in relocation services in Colorado.
For those in the process of or considering relocating, Dovel, a Certified Relocation Professional (CRP), offers the following three tips to help alleviate the stress:
No. 1: Process emotions. “First and foremost, take the time to process your emotions about relocating instead of packing them away like you would your belongings, especially if leaving a place you’ve called home for many years," said Dovel. “Sadness goes hand-in-hand with relocating, but keep in mind why you are moving and embrace the possibilities your new environment has to offer.”
No. 2: Rid yourself of unnecessary items. The less one has to move in any scenario, the better. When moving long distances, getting rid of unnecessary possessions is not only practical but essential. For possessions that can’t come along for the ride, the best way to unload them is to have a garage sale, sell them on Craigslist or Ebay or donate them.
No. 3: Hire a moving professional. “Fortunately for relocators, they don’t have to move everything by themselves,” said Dovel. “If you have heavy furniture or other items, for example, hire a professional mover. This can go a long way in reducing the stress of relocating.”
In addition to the aforementioned tips, Dovel assists relocators via educational YouTube videos focusing on how he helps relocate home buyers in Denver.
