Michigan Central Station - The Heart of a City Restarted
BRIGHTON, Mich. (PRWEB) September 18, 2018 -- Detroit is the birthplace of the mass produced automobile and the original "Living Wage" under the leadership of the legendary Henry Ford's famous five dollars a day that gave birth to the middle class. In the early part of the 1900's Detroit became one of the fastest growing cities in the world. In 1913 the great Michigan Central Station opened it's doors to the first of millions of travelers embarking on adventures around the world or just the daily commute of getting to work on time; thousands of whom went to work everyday at Ford Motor Company. Yet in 1988, the MCS closed its doors for the last time as the final train rolled out of town.
Now, just over one hundred years after the MCS opened its doors, the great grandson of the iconic founder of Ford Motor Company has led his company to not only save one of the most important train stations ever built in America, he has established the MCS as the new center for advanced transportation development for the future. Mr. Ford has proven again that his leadership and love for the Ford Motor Company is one and the same with his love for the City of Detroit.
Shut down more than 30 years ago and missing all of its windows, this grand train station and office tower loomed over Detroit's skyline haunting yet inspiring everyone who looked upon such majestic architecture. It is a dream of every Detroiter to see this building brought back to life and that dream has finally been given the best chance at a new life that anyone could hope for.
Attached is a high resolution copy of an illustration commissioned by the Founder of the Interstate Traveler Company to propose ideas for the rebirth of the MCS and executed by the world renown artist Chet Johnson.
