With decades of management experience in direct mail print production, Mike Smith joins Tidewater Direct to oversee all print production in it's Centreville facility. Mike will also serve Tidewater in business development in this director level position.

It’s a rare occasion when someone of the quality of Mike Smith becomes available. We are very pleased that he joined our team.

Tidewater Direct, a direct mail printing component part supplier with 3 plants nationally, proudly announced the addition of Mike Smith to the Tidewater Direct management team today. Having served the direct mail printing industry for decades, he has earned reputation for quality output, problem solving, and on-time deliveries in the increasingly demanding direct mail print market. Smith formerly served as president of Mars Graphics, a director at Harte Hanks, and oversaw the heatset web division of IBS Direct. Mike’s new role will be based in Tidewater’s Centreville Maryland plant, where it operates two Sunday presses, Screen HD inkjet press, and a large commercial bindery.

Committed to direct mail component part supply, Tidewater has seen impressive growth through equipment reinvestment, solidifying a quality brand in the direct mail printing space. “With our new inkjet capabilities and tremendous generic direct mail insert capacity in Centreville, we see a true opportunity for continuing organic growth,” said Geoff Eisenberg, Executive Vice President. “Adding Mike to our team will allow us to grow the right way, ensuring that Tidewater’s reputation for quality, timely deliveries, and superior service scales appropriately.”

Tidewater’s business model as a direct mail component part supplier supports direct mail contractors, letter shops, and some of the largest printers in the world with trade continuous inkjet printing and finishing, high-quality continuous forms printing, terms and conditions, buck slips, brochures, and other types of traditional commercial printing. Tidewater’s clients consist of vertically and non-vertically integrated direct mail contractors that partner with Tidewater in either a primary, specialty, or overflow capacity. Mike’s experience in the industry, specifically within this niche, makes him an asset to Tidewater in both a production and business development capacity right away.

Ken Boone, president of Tidewater, acknowledged that bringing on Smith adds dimension to an already well-running and efficient plant. “Geoff Eisenberg, our EVP, has developed a strong management team. Jim Brandt, our general manager in Centreville, has done terrific job building an extraordinarily flexible bindery, promoting Tidewater’s growth.” He went on to say, “It’s a rare occasion when someone of the quality of Mike Smith becomes available. We are very pleased that he joined our team. Mike will complement Jim’s success in the pressroom, creating very strong production and quality management poised for additional growth in Centreville.”

Tidewater continues to show investment in its customers through strategic staffing and equipment acquisition. In a time where many printers cross the line between trade printer and direct competitor to letter shops and brokers, Tidewater continues to reinvest in ways that allow it to retain its conflict-free business model as a component part supplier.
