Fork Union, VA (PRWEB) January 20, 2014

The deadline to submit applications for a full scholarship to attend Fork Union Military Academy, one of the nation's leading military schools, has been extended one week to Friday, January 24, 2014. Students who will enter grade 9 or 10 in the fall of 2014 and are first time applicants to the fall program are eligible to compete for Fork Union Military Academy’s Board of Trustee Scholarship. The Trustee Scholarship offers free tuition, room and board, and the initial required uniform allotment for the student selected to receive the special scholarship award.

“The Board of Trustee Scholarship is unique in that is it competitive and completely need blind,” stated Fork Union’s Admissions Director, LTC Steve Macek. “This means that applicants for this scholarship do not need to fill out a financial aid application. The finalists are selected based on the strength of their scholarship and admission applications. Finalists are then invited to campus for an interview with our scholarship committee before the final award is announced.”

Affordability is a key factor for many families looking at private boarding school, and Fork Union Military Academy works hard to provide opportunities to as many students as possible. The Academy keeps tuition as low as possible, and remains one of the most affordable institutions among the elite college preparatory boarding schools in the nation. This is in keeping with the Academy’s historical mission as a Christian institution providing a pathway to college for young men regardless of their socio-economic status. Fork Union utilizes need-based financial aid and other “access scholarship” funds to assist as many young men as possible to enroll.

Founded in 1898, Fork Union Military Academy is a one-of-a-kind high school experience, where students attend classes in the unique “One subject Plan” format, which has successfully prepared students for college and beyond for more than sixty years. The school is guided by the core values of respect, integrity, faith, character and discipline each day in a true military-style program where leadership and character development are a primary focus.
