There aren’t many things out there more minimalist than Be Real Shoes. Running enthusiast, innovator and entrepreneur Jason Applegate, President of Be Real Shoes, will be giving away a pair of his revolutionary minimalist running shoes at Austin’s premier specialty running conference this week.
Be Real Shoes were conceived of due to Applegate’s own experience with the minimalist running movement. While he quickly fell in love with the more natural style of running and its health benefits, he found himself dissatisfied with the stylistic options, frustrated by fit, and longing for an even more minimalist construction.
“I tried a few different brands in the beginning,” explains Applegate. “None of them fit properly, and their design restricted the movement of the toes, which is part of the natural running experience. I knew I could do better.”
Better, it turns out, relied on a patent-pending approach to creating an incredibly lightweight material, providing protection and traction while coming in at a fraction of the cost of the competition’s shoes. The shoes are designed to work seamlessly in every running environment. For the price of one shoe, you get a perfect trail shoe, crossfit shoe, and water shoe. The shoes are made in the USA utilizing ecofriendly manufacturing techniques enabling the rubber soles to be 100% recyclable. While they won’t be available for purchase until February 1st, 2014, buzz has already grown for the brand, with Salt Lake Magazine heralding Be Real Shoes as one of the top design finds at the Summer Outdoor Retailer Market.
“These shoes really do represent the crux of minimalism,” raves Jukz Shoes CEO Johnny de la Valdene. “From the weight of their material to their recyclable nature to their ability to perform in multiple terrains, Be Real Shoes epitomizes the idea that sometimes less is best.”
