California manufacturers are in the middle of an innovation revolution, which is driving job growth at an unprecedented pace.

It’s a tale as old as time. No, not the classic Disney story of Beauty and the Beast. This is a story of the real-life ventures of value-added resellers (VARs) who become part of the xTuple channel. Why? Because they use the product to manage their own businesses. And they fall in love with the technology.

So it went for Ken Minx. After spending over 30 years working in IT — building his technology expertise since before the birth of the Internet — Ken felt the irresistible urge to share his passion with others. He now joins the ranks of the xTuple Solution Provider partner team in California.

From 1991 to 2011 — before he launched his consulting company — Ken spent his formative years in enterprise-level hardware and software support for an ISO 9001:2000 company as a Global Fiberchannel Infrastructure Engineer. Customers included Amazon, GM, Verizon and notable Wall Street banks such as JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse and Barclays Capital.

Established in 2011, Minx Consulting, Inc., implements management systems to connect all aspects of a business so that efficiency is maximized, both in how the company manages itself and how quickly management can react to trends or shifting customer needs. Ken’s goal is to ensure all of his customers have the tools and on-going support necessary to accomplish their business goals and ambitions.

Before signing on with xTuple as a Solution Provider, one of his customers wanted to move from QuickBooks® to a more serious accounting system. The customer had researched xTuple enterprise resource planning solution, showed it to Ken, and asked him to install it for his business.

So impressed was Ken with the software that it became the ERP of choice for Minx Consulting as well. As his own business grew, xTuple software was added to manage the complexities of the Minx operation.

Today, xTuple products are an essential addition to the business services delivered to Minx Consulting’s customers.

“The biggest benefit of xTuple’s open source ERP for our customers is the modular nature of the software. The core edition — PostBooks® — is fully functional and capable of running a business including light manufacturing and distribution,” said Ken Minx.

“When those functions grow in scope, commercial editions offer features such as MRP/MPS* for manufacturing and drop-shipping for distribution. xTuple ERP grows as our customers grow.”

According to Ken, “The out-of-the-box CRM is robust and flexible. Information about customers, vendors, prospects, etc., is instantly available, and files of all types can be easily attached and retrieved. As an open source product, xTuple even includes a powerful report writer that makes it easy to create a company brand and crisp, professional documents and reports.”

“Module integration within xTuple means quick access to information, even if it's in another module. The single source of data provides simpler maintenance and efficiency of use; all important factors to our customers,” continued Ken, on the benefits of xTuple open source ERP.

"xTuple partners with expert consultants to provide in-market support to our global customer base. Minx Consulting is a terrific addition to our partner group, with deep industry and product knowledge, they are able to install and support xTuple in growing companies throughout southern California," says Danielle Kerner, xTuple's director of partner channel development.

Additionally, Ken says, “We've talked to companies with eCommerce websites that are either not connected to their accounting system — or very limited accounting is offered — and they need much more. A solid accounting system and xTupleCommerce's real-time integration into every xTuple edition addresses both concerns. Features such as built-in SEO support and ease of attaching items to the xTupleCommerce website spotlight some of the compelling reasons our customers rely on xTuple ERP to run their businesses.”

Minx Consulting’s array of experience includes installing and using well-known software technologies such as QuickBooks®, AccountEdge, Sage’s MAS90 and MAS200 accounting systems.

According to the recent National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) analysis of economic conditions in California, “manufacturers are in the middle of an innovation revolution, which is driving job growth at an unprecedented pace," added Wally Tonra, xTuple's vice president of sales. "Ken is in the right place at the right time to help us serve this fast-growing xTuple market."
