Mipwr Dynamo is an iPhone 5/5S protective case, backup battery and hybrid charger all in one. The team behind the new device that uses electromagnetic induction to manufacture electricity when mobile users need it most must raise $78,000 within the next three weeks in order to manufacture the Mipwr Dynamo in mass quantities. Early adopters and Kickstarter fans alike now have the opportunity to pre-order the emergency device for just $25, and support the campaign all at the same time.

The Mipwr iPhone case contains a 400 mA battery, along with a concealed push lever that, when pumped, generates electricity to charge the internal battery. For every one minute of actuating the push lever within the case, users will produce enough power for 30 seconds of talk time or text.

For anyone worried about getting trapped without power, like those aboard the cruise disasters or those who lost power during Hurricane Sandy, Mipwr is the perfect charging solution. The case will also be indispensable during power outages, hurricanes, or while stuck without battery while on the go. Mipwr is also great to include in emergency kits for the vehicle, home, office, airplane and more.

“In the event that users exhaust both the cell phone battery and Mipwr’s backup battery, which will give them two extra hours of talk time, they can simply pump the push lever to produce the battery life needed,” says Mipwr Dyanmo co-founder Karl Lee. “These efforts will create enough battery power to make a distress call or text at a moment’s notice.”

Currently, the final design of Mipwr Dynamo is complete; the electronic parts are specified and the molds for the case have been designed. Lee and partner Bob Panos have taken their working prototype through rounds of testing in terms of durability and functionality with regards to charging time versus operation time. The only thing standing in their way is funding the project.

The earliest adopters can order Mipwr on Kickstarter for just $25, but when that reward level sells out, the price will increase to $35, $45 and, eventually, $50. Not only can supporters get the Mipwr case, but a Bamboo woven golf shirt with the Mipwr Logo embroidered, and recognition as a premier backer on the Mipwr website.
