We are representing numerous women who have suffered uterine perforations, infections, organ damages and other Mirena complications allegedly caused by spontaneous migration of the IUD.
New York, New York (PRWEB) November 22, 2013
The New Jersey Multicounty Litigation established in Bergen County Superior Court for all Mirena IUD lawsuit (http://www.filemirenalawsuit.com/) claims filed in that state held its most recent Case Management Conference on November 20, 2013, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to an Order issued by the Court on November 21st, the conference addressed a number of issues, including a New Jersey Deposition Protocol. The Court directed the parties to meet and discuss such a protocol, using their best efforts to coordinate with the multidistrict litigation established for federally-filed Mirena lawsuits. The Court also directed that the proceeding’s next Case Management Conference will be convened on January 14, 2014. (In Re: Mirena Litigation; Case No. 297)
“We are representing numerous women who have suffered uterine perforations, infections, organ damages and other Mirena complications allegedly caused by spontaneous migration of the IUD. We are pleased that cases are moving ahead, and look forward to more progress next year,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently offering free Mirena IUD lawsuit evaluations to women who were seriously injured by this device.
Court records indicate that there are currently hundreds of Mirena lawsuits pending in courts around the country. In addition to the claims that have been filed in the New Jersey proceeding, lawsuits alleging similar Mirena complications that were filed on the federal level have been consolidated in a multidistrict litigation underway in U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York. Bernstein Liebhard LLP is actively filing Mirena IUD lawsuits in the federal proceeding. (In re: Mirena IUD Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2434)
The Mirena IUD has been on the market since 2000, and is approved as both a method of birth control and as a treatment for heavy menstrual bleeding in women who wish to use an IUD as their primary form of contraception. In 2009, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) warned Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals that some claims made in one of its Mirena promotions were misleading, and overstated the efficacy of the IUD and downplayed some of its potential side effects.
According to a report aired over the summer by 7 Action News, the FDA has received more than 70,000 reports of Mirena complications, including device dislocation and uterine perforations, since the IUD first came on the market.*
Women who have allegedly suffered Mirena complications due to spontaneous migration of the IUD may be entitled to compensation from Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals.
