Mirena IUD Lawsuit News: Bernstein Liebhard LLP Reports on Most Recent Case Management Conference in New Jersey Mirena Lawsuits
New York, New York (PRWEB) November 22, 2013 -- The New Jersey Multicounty Litigation established in Bergen County Superior Court for all Mirena IUD lawsuit (http://www.filemirenalawsuit.com/) claims filed in that state held its most recent Case Management Conference on November 20, 2013, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to an Order issued by the Court on November 21st, the conference addressed a number of issues, including a New Jersey Deposition Protocol. The Court directed the parties to meet and discuss such a protocol, using their best efforts to coordinate with the multidistrict litigation established for federally-filed Mirena lawsuits. The Mirena IUD has been on the market since 2000, and is approved as both a method of birth control and as a treatment for heavy menstrual bleeding in women who wish to use an IUD as their primary form of contraception. In 2009, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) warned Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals that some claims made in one of its Mirena promotions were misleading, and overstated the efficacy of the IUD and downplayed some of its potential side effects.
According to a report aired over the summer by 7 Action News, the FDA has received more than 70,000 reports of Mirena complications, including device dislocation and uterine perforations, since the IUD first came on the market.*
