We are already representing women in Mirena lawsuits who allegedly suffered uterine perforations and other serious injuries related to spontaneous migration of the device, and continue to receive inquiries from others on a regular basis.
New York, New York (PRWEB) January 20, 2014
The number of Mirena lawsuits (http://www.themirenalawsuitcenter.com) currently pending in state and federal litigations has now surpassed 800, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports. According to court documents filed in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, at least 344 claims have been filed in the federal multidistrict litigation established for Mirena IUD lawsuits. (In re: Mirena IUD Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2434) An additional 488 lawsuits alleging similar Mirena complications have been filed in a multicounty litigation now underway in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court. (In Re: Mirena Litigation; Case No. 297)
“We are already representing women in Mirena lawsuits who allegedly suffered uterine perforations and other serious injuries related to spontaneous migration of the device, and continue to receive inquiries from others on a regular basis. It is not surprising that the number of claims have grown so quickly in these proceedings,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently offering free legal evaluations to women who were allegedly harmed by this contraceptive device.
According to a report that aired on 7 Action News this past summer, since its initial approval in 2000, the FDA has logged over 70,000 complaints involving Mirena side effects, including thousands that detail cases of device dislocation and uterine perforation.* In December 2009, the agency issued a Warning Letter to Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals after it determined that a promotional campaign for the IUD made misleading claims about its benefits and the risk of Mirena complications.
According to court documents, all of the Mirena IUD lawsuits pending in New York and New Jersey allege that Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals failed to provide adequate warnings regarding the risks associated with the IUD. Among other things, plaintiffs claim that the Mirena label does not warn of the danger of spontaneous migration of the device, and only states that this could occur if the uterus is perforated upon insertion.
If you experienced uterine perforations, ectopic pregnancy or another Mirena complication allegedly stemming from migration of the IUD, you may be eligible to receive compensation for damages caused by your injury.
