Our Firm is representing numerous Mirena lawsuits on behalf of women who were allegedly injured by the birth control implant.
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 03, 2015
Nearly 2,500 Mirena lawsuits (http://www.filemirenalawsuit.com/) have now been filed in the U.S., between a federal and state litigation established for cases involving the IUD, Bernstein Liebhard LLP reports.
According to a federal court update on December 15th, more than 1,121 cases over the IUD are now centralized in a multidistrict litigation underway in the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York. Plaintiffs in these lawsuits accuse the birth control implant’s manufacturer, Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, of failing to adequately warn about its potential to spontaneously migrate away from the uterine wall and into other parts of the recipient’s peritoneal cavity. Court documents issued the same day in New Jersey’s Bergen County reflect the filing of 1,375 similar lawsuits over Mirena in a consolidated state proceeding established there. (In re: Mirena IUD Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2434; In Re: Mirena Litigation; Case No. 297)
“Our Firm is representing numerous Mirena lawsuits on behalf of women who were allegedly injured by the birth control implant. We are pleased to see continued progress in both the state and federal litigations involving this device,” says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices including the Mirena IUD. The Firm is currently offering free and confidential case evaluations to individuals who allege serious complications of the IUD.
All the Mirena lawsuits now filed in New York, as well as in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court, similarly accuse Bayer of failing to properly warn about side effects that may stem from use of the IUD. Plaintiffs in these cases similarly accuse the manufacturer of overstating benefits of the device, and downplaying its potential for complications, which was behavior they were cited for in 2009 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The federal agency issued a Warning Letter to the company that year after finding certain marketing claims involving the Mirena IUD to be misleading.
Bernstein Liebhard LLP is actively filing claims in the Mirena litigation currently underway in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court, and continues to monitor updates in the federal proceeding currently underway in the Southern District of New York.
Women who were allegedly injured by Mirena may be entitled to compensation for out-of-pocket medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering and more.
