CHANDLER, Ariz. (PRWEB) August 01, 2013 -- In her compelling debut novel, “Cat House: Adventures of a Real Estate Madam” (published by iUniverse), real estate broker, MK Sandoval introduces readers to Niki Brooks, her Manolo–clad heroine who finds unique financial opportunities during the Great Recession.
As a luxury home real estate broker trying to survive one of the worst bubble bursts in 30 years, Niki is barely hanging on. With her own house under threat of foreclosure and her retirement holdings worthless, Niki turns from selling houses to selling the world’s oldest profession.
Irreverent and laugh-out-loud, Sandoval’s playful mystery was inspired by real life financial pressures and a snarky imagination.
“As a real estate broker, I was struggling through the recession and joked about starting a call girl business after watching a special on television about a madam who had been arrested and only received a slap on her wrist,” remembers Sandoval. “I made this joke to an acquaintance who is a published author. He suggested I write the book, keeping it funny knowing millions were struggling just like me and would appreciate a good laugh at the end of a stressful day.”
And write she did. While Sandoval notes that “Cat House” deals with risqué subject matters, the book, she shares, is about much more than the business of selling sex.
“It’s not about a call girl business,” she says. “It is about the journey Niki takes to survive. Desperate people do desperate things, but those things can often lead to love, forgiveness and growth.”
