Mobile Pixels' DUO Selected as Finalist in 2018 MassChallenge Boston
The on-the-go dual-screen laptop monitor initially reached success during its Kickstarter campaign in June where it collected over 4,000 pre-orders
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 26, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Headquartered in the United States with locations in Boston, Israel, Mexico, Switzerland, Texas, and the UK, MassChallenge strengthens the global innovation ecosystem by accelerating high-potential startups across all industries, from anywhere in the world. This week, Mobile Pixels was selected out of a pool of over 1,600 applicants as one of the top 26 teams selected to advance to the final round of judging in this year's MassChallenge Boston. During its 35-day run on Kickstarter, MIT-backed startup Mobile Pixels raised $862,433 for DUO, their portable, foldable second screen designed for any laptop.
After attaching DUO to the back of a laptop with the provided magnets, consumers can then connect it via a single USB-C cable and slide it out, to the left or right, as needed. DUO weighs just 1.5 pounds and features a 12.5-inch screen, enabling it to fit almost any laptop, no matter the size. While the video driver has an energy star rating to help reduce battery drain and give users a long-lasting battery life, DUO also provides a full 270° rotation with the option for a 180° presentation mode, so consumers can choose an optimal viewing angle for any situation.
After its highly successful Kickstarter campaign, DUO continues to collect pre-orders on Indiegogo's InDemand platform. While on InDemand, DUO reached $1 million in pre-sales and gained nearly 1,000 new backers and counting.
Today, Mobile Pixels will compete amongst 26 other startups for shares of $1.5M in equity-free prizes in Boston. The team will have five minutes to pitch and 10 minutes for a question and answer segment, the panel of judges made up of industry visionaries will then evaluate DUO's ability to demonstrate growth and impact worldwide.
