Describing preferences and desires might seem like an ill-afforded luxury, especially when feeling worried, stretched for cash, and intimidated before the beast called job search! It is easy to presume one is lucky to get any job––let alone what one want. Readers are about to learn that identifying preferences and desires is no luxury.

Where Is My Coffee Cup?” is a workbook written by author Monica Schneider. It reveals the very big benefit in identifying preference areas that can reliably help select a desired job setting where authentic job satisfaction is found. This workbook is ideally suited for use by professionals in career development as well as the person who needs to clarify their job options and look for a job. The methods and materials have been used successfully by career counselors and are designed to offer a practical guide to the job seeker.

This approach was developed through the author’s 25-year span of private practice as a career counselor and educator in career development. Her background is a doctorate in Industrial Psychology with a particular emphasis on the person-environment fit theory. She combined theory with practice to design this workbook to be used as a guide. She has personalized the experience of work search as a result of many of her own career and job changes and the work she has done with numerous persons in career counseling.

“Where is My Coffee Cup?” fits in a niche within the field of career development. It is designed to readily help people with career development and job search. This workbook’s outcome suggests that the more clarification one has about what he/she want; the better the odds of finding the job he/she want. Knowing what to communicate to others, about what one want is a powerful benefit to the job seeker. This workbook also offers self-assessment and explains work search with an application to a critical factor in finding work satisfaction; the job setting selection.
