CelebrityBusinessAnalyst.com Announces Monsters University’s Reign in Its Weekly Box Office Report
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) July 05, 2013 -- Celebrity Business Analyst released its weekly box office report today, analyzing total weekend grosses for movies currently showing in theaters. In a June 27 weekend forecast Box Office Mojo predicted that Monsters University would take the number one spot again, followed by newcomers The Heat and White House Down in second and third places, respectively. Celebrity Business Analyst explores the actual numbers and reports on the top three films at the box office.
1. Reigning supreme again is Disney Pixar’s crowd-pleaser, Monsters University. The film is a prequel to Monsters, Inc., which can be viewed with satellite tv offers on family-oriented channels. It outdid predicted numbers by almost $2 million, bringing in another $46.2 million over the weekend. That puts the movie’s total gross at $171 million. Celebrity Business Analyst expected Monsters University to hold fast to the number one spot over this week’s new releases.
2. 20th Century Fox’s The Heat takes second place this week, bringing in an even $40 million for its movie premiere weekend. Though it made $2.2 million less than Box Office Mojo’s prediction, The Heat doesn’t have long to go before it breaks even with its $43 million budget.
3. Contrary to the forecast that predicted newcomer White House Down would come in third, World War Z ends the weekend in the top three again. As both are disaster films, Celebrity Business Analyst expected a close run between the two for third place, but the margin was wider than expected. World War Z pulled in $29.8 million, adding to last week’s successful opening numbers for a total of $123.7 million.
Celebrity Business Analyst states in its weekly box office report that the results didn’t come as much of a surprise. Monsters University, The Heat, and World War Z were all frontrunners in predictions for weekend grosses and did as well as expected for the most part.
