Monster Energy Ski and Snowboard Athletes Are Ready to Dominate this Week at X Games Norway 2017
HAFJELL, Norway (PRWEB) March 08, 2017 -- Monster Energy is proud to announce its team of world-class athletes ready to compete at X Games Norway 2017 at Hafjell Ski Resort. All the action gets underway March 8-11.
For the second consecutive year the snow sports world will soon gather in Norway at Hafjell Ski Resort for the world’s premier action sports competition on snow with live coverage on ESPN and TV2 in Norway. The 2017 event will again feature action sports competitions, world-class musical performances and a festival village.
Monster Energy’s unrivaled roster of snowboard and free ski athletes are ready to compete for fame, fortune and everlasting X Games glory as they cap off the competition season.
X Games is the height of winter competition, and as such, athlete invites are few and far between. This year the invitations were limited to even less athletes in an effort to keep the contest level elite. Key Monster Energy athletes to keep an eye on include:
In Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle look out for Norwegian superstar Ståle Sandbech, and Swedish snowboarder Sven Thorgren who is coming in strong after taking third place in Slopestyle at the Burton US Open and third in Big Air at the Air + Style Innsbruck event. Canadian Max Parrot is also one to watch with an incredible season of wins that keep stacking up. The 22-year-old is perhaps the most dominant force in freestyle snowboarding this winter and made history by landing the first ever quadruple cork underflip, which secured the gold medal in Snowboard Big Air at X Games Aspen 2017, marking his second consecutive gold. Sandbech, Thorgren and Parrot will also all compete in Men’s Snowboard Big Air.
When it’s time for the Women’s Snowboard Slopestyle contest, all eyes will be on 12-time X Games medalist and Olympic gold medalist Jamie Anderson as she looks to cement her place among the X Games greats this year as one of the most decorated riders in slopestyle history. Anderson will also compete in Women’s Snowboard Big Air.
In Men’s Ski Big Air, which is one of the most anticipated events, Henrik Harlaut is looking to medal again after taking gold at X Games Oslo 2016 in Ski Big Air and silver at X Games Aspen 2017 in Ski Big Air. James Woods, who took his first X Games medal, which just so happened to be gold in Ski Big Air earlier this year at X Games Aspen 2017, is always a crowd pleaser. Make sure to also look out for Luca Schuler, Jossi Wells, and Gus Kenworthy.
In Men’s Ski Slopestyle Wells, a five-time X Games medalist from three different disciplines makes him one of the most versatile skiers on the planet. In both 2012 and 2013 he competed in all three freestyle ski disciplines at X Games Aspen – Slopestyle, SuperPipe, and Big Air. Wells won his first X Games gold medal in 2016 for his Slopestyle performance and is set to go for gold again. Be sure to also look out for multi-discipline threat and Olympic medalist Kenworthy, who took silver in Ski Slopestyle in 2016, and Canadian Alex Beaulieu-Marchand who won a bronze medal in Ski Slopestyle at X Games Aspen 2017. Also competing in Ski Slopestyle is Woods, Harlaut, and Evan McEachran.
When it’s the women’s freeskiers turn on the slopestyle course, Emma Dåhlstrom who took bronze last year at X Games Oslo hopes for a return to the podium, and former medalist Maggie Voisin is ready to dominate after taking some time off for an injury. Also competing in Ski Slopestyle is Giulia Tanno who took bronze in Women’s Ski Big Air at X Games Aspen 2017, and Olympic medalist Devin Logan.
Dåhlstrom, Voisin, Tanno and Logan will also all be competing in Women’s Ski Big Air.
ESPN and TV2 will each distribute 13.5 hours of live coverage. TV2 will air the competitions live in Norway, while ESPN’s coverage will be distributed live in the U.S. on ESPN3 and as part of its World of X Games series on ABC. In addition to the content on ESPN’s U.S. media platforms, X Games Norway 2017 will be televised globally on ESPN International networks and distributed to other international media outlets and broadcasters via ESPN’s media distribution business.
