I love my job! The head kick was there. I saw him feinting to that side and I went for it.” I want to fight in Denver against anyone who will sign on the dotted line - Cowboy Cerrone

Monster Energy’s Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone knocks out Matt Brown with a third-round head kick at UFC 206 at the Air Canada Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FS1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Cerrone (32-7 MMA, 19-4 UFC) unleashed a lethal left high kick that clipped Brown in the jaw with a sickening crack, dropping him unconscious in Round 3 at the 0:34 mark to take his fourth consecutive win since moving up to welterweight.

Looking stronger and sharper than ever in his fourth fight at welterweight, Cerrone amazed and added to his streak of three welterweight knockouts in a row on Saturday night, leaving MMA experts and fans alike wondering why he hadn’t moved up from 155 to 170 earlier.

Nevertheless, the battle with “The Immortal” Brown was no cakewalk as the two UFC veterans met in the center of the Octagon and unleashed offense in a near even ‘give and take’ until Cerrone’s KO kick in the third.

Cerrone controlled the first half of round one by maintaining distance with a stabbing jab and varied kicks to Brown’s head and body. Seemingly undaunted, Brown continued to press forward and walk his man down with constant pressure while landing a few significant blows of his own. A Cerrone takedown nearly went sideways as Brown craftily caught “Cowboy” in a tight triangle from the bottom. While Cerrone escaped the submission, Brown closed out the round landing effective blows on the feet.

After a couple of failed Cerrone takedowns to start round two, it quickly escalated to all-out offense by both men who scored knockdowns. First to land was Brown with a hard overhand that sent Cerrone reeling. Cerrone popped up, recovered, and shortly retaliated with a swift head-kick knockdown in return. The round concluded with heavy and fairly even back and forth action between the two MMA warriors.

“I love my job!” Cowboy yelled to Dana White before the start of the round three, and then he went out and KO’d Brown in what had been a very ‘even’ fight. Cowboy used his jab to set up a textbook switch head kick to the jaw that promptly knocked “The Immortal” out cold. “The head kick was there. I saw him feinting to that side and I went for it.” I want to fight in Denver against anyone who will sign on the dotted line,” said “Cowboy” after the fight.
Cerrone has now won 12 of his last 13 fights; Brown has lost three in a row. With his fourth consecutive win at welterweight in the books, Cerrone said that he wants to get back in the cage at the end of January.

Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is amongst Monster Energy’s elite UFC athletes along with Conor “The Notorious” McGregor, Tyron “The Chosen One” Woodley, Chris “The All American” Weidman, Dominick “Dominator” Cruz, Jon “Bones” Jones, Daniel Cormier, Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey, Cain Velasquez, and Anthony “Showtime” Pettis.
