Cigar City Brewing: El Monstruo Lúpulo
Cigar City’s beer is a big, 9.5% ABV, Imperial IPA inspired by the Humidor Series version of their world-class Jai Alai IPA. Aged lightly on Spanish cedar and small amounts of spruce through a special infusion method, El Monstruo Lúpulo contains 8 different hop varieties, notably: Pacific Jade whose white grapefruit notes complement the Spanish cedar, Chinook whose piney character accents the spruce, and three experimental varieties that deliver notes of mango, berry, and orange peel. El Monstruo Lúpulo is being featured in The Rare Beer Club’s™ July 2014 shipment.
The Bruery: Smokey and the Bois
The Bruery’s Smokey and the Bois is a huge, barrel-aged, blended beer, weighing in at a massive 16.2% ABV. The beer is a unique blend of three of The Bruery’s prized beers: Bois, a bourbon-barrel aged old ale, Black Tuesday, a massive bourbon-barrel aged imperial stout, and Smoking Wood, an imperial smoked porter brewed with beechwood and cherrywood smoked malt and aged in rye whiskey barrels. Additionally, Ecuadorian Nacional cacao nibs from Mindo Chocolate Makers were added to one of the three beers’ barrels as it aged. This beer is being offered as a Special Offer to all active members of The Rare Beer Club™ and The Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club™.
Shmaltz Brewing Company: Mazel Hops!
Shmaltz Brewing Co., who recently built their own brewery after 17 years as a contract brewer, has developed this new Imperial IPA exclusively for beer club members, combining Amarillo, Crystal, Citra and other classic hops of the Pacific Northwest genre. The brew has an incredibly fresh and juicy citrus, tropical fruit, and herbal hop profile and weighs in with an impressively firm 81 IBUs (int’l bittering units). Mazel Hops! is being featured in The Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club’s July 2014 shipment.
