EMCO Announces a New Version of Its Application Packaging Software
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 01, 2014 -- EMCO Software, a leading provider of application packaging solutions for Windows, has released a new version of its EMCO MSI Package Builder software. The new version of the application is designed to help network administrators create MSI packages using existing installations. The new version allows wrapping existing installations that can be deployed silently into MSI packages created for remote unattended software deployment. The created MSI packages may include one or multiple installations and can be deployed remotely on multiple PCs at once using software distribution applications.
The installation wrapping feature can be used to package installations that support the silent deployment mode. It allows avoiding installations repackaging by using original installations and instructing them to deploy silently. This is the preferred packaging approach because it doesn't require installation modification, so installations are performed as designed by their vendors. To wrap an installation into an MSI, the network administrator should provide the installation package and specify its silent installation options. The MSI package is generated automatically within just a few seconds.
Using the new version of EMCO MSI Package Builder, network administrators can create an MSI package that includes multiple installations. When such an MSI is deployed, it installs all the included installations one-by-one. Network administrators can control how the installed applications are displayed in the Windows Programs and Features dialog. It is possible to display only the MSI entry, or the installed application entries, or the MSI and the installed application entries simultaneously. Network administrators can configure the created MSI packages to uninstall all the included installations when the MSI packages are uninstalled.
"The new installation wrapping features extend the functionality of EMCO MSI Package Builder. Now, network administrators can use wrapping instead of repackaging if the packaged installations support silent deployment. It guarantees better results in many cases," Thorarinn Oskarsson, CEO at EMCO Software, says.
