MTPV Power Corporation Awarded National Science Foundation Grant
Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 04, 2016 -- MTPV Power Corporation, a clean energy company that converts waste heat to electricity using semiconductor chips, today announced it has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II-B grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).
MTPV has previously been awarded SBIR Phase I, Phase II, and Technology Enhancement for Commercial Partnerships (TECP) grants from the NSF. The SBIR program assists in the transformation of scientific discovery into societal and economic benefit by advancing the commercialization of technological innovations. The program supports increased cutting-edge, high-quality scientific research and development to increase the potential for recipients to successfully commercialize their technology.
“We are delighted with the NSF's ongoing commitment in support of our acceleration towards commercialization.” said David Mather, President and CEO of MTPV. “Being selected for an NSF SBIR Phase II-B grant is an important affirmation of the maturity of our technology and the outstanding work of the MTPV team."
Advanced research and development are critical success factors for commercializing complex technologies. The advances in materials science development to be funded with this grant will enable MTPV to accelerate the world’s transition to a cleaner energy mix powered by waste heat.
“MTPV’s ability to attract research grants from organizations of the caliber of the NSF was an important factor in my decision to join the MTPV Board of Directors,” said Mark Little, Independent Board Director of MTPV. “Such grants require significant due diligence from some of the country’s top technical minds, providing valuable external validation of our technology.”

About the National Science Foundation's Small Business Programs
The National Science Foundation (NSF) awards nearly $190 million annually to startups and small businesses through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) program, transforming scientific discovery into products and services with commercial and societal impact. The non-dilutive grants support research and development (R&D) across all areas of science and technology helping companies de-risk technology for commercial success. The NSF is an independent federal agency with a budget of about $7 billion that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering.
