Multiple Higher Ed Institutions Showcase Mobile Strategies at the 2018 EDUCAUSE Conference
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. & DENVER (PRWEB) October 31, 2018 -- The power of mobile to transform the student experience and drive positive student behaviors is on display at the EDUCAUSE Annual Conference, October 30-November 2. The conference brings together over 4,000 higher education IT professionals and technology providers to share solutions to challenges in the industry. This year, multiple leading institutions will share how their partnership with Modo Labs, the leading mobile experience platform for higher ed, has enabled them to meet institutional goals across student enrollment, retention, and success.
With the average person spending about 5 hours a day on mobile, companies with the best customer service are prioritizing mobile engagement. The leading institutions in higher ed are no different, concentrating their efforts on reaching students, their primary customer, where they spend most of their time, on their phones and other devices. From streamlining financial aid processes, to offering virtual queuing, to communicating need-to-know information in real-time, these institutions are equipping their increasingly diverse student bodies with the tools they need to navigate their daily lives through a unified campus app. In three breakout sessions at EDUCAUSE, representatives from Portland State University, the University of Notre Dame, and California State University, Northridge will demonstrate how they have deployed Modo Campus® at their institutions.
“Through our partnership with Modo, we have delivered a unified mobile experience that helps students navigate enrollment and the business of being a student, while decreasing barriers to success. As the only urban public institution in Oregon, with an incredible diversity of students, including student needs to access services and resources outside of regular business hours, it’s crucial we're able to create experiences that are personalized to their specific goals,” said Hans VanDerSchaaf, Project Director in the Office of Student Success at Portland State University. “Our mobile strategy has brought our institution together and created a hub of need-to-have information that allows our students to be more successful throughout their college journey.” VanDerSchaaf will present Portland State’s mobile strategy in the session “Are You Constantly Connected? Disruptions that Bring Your Campus Together” at EDUCAUSE.
Martin Klubeck, Product Manager at the University of Notre Dame, said: “I’m excited to present Notre Dame’s mobile solution at EDUCAUSE this year. Our mobile campus app has enabled us to reach all members of the Notre Dame family; from undergraduate students, to faculty, staff, graduate students, alumni, and all of our guests. We have spread ownership of the technology across our campus, involving everyone. Our mobile strategy has played an active role in enabling student success.” Klubeck will present alongside Modo Labs CEO Stewart Elliot.
Elliot said: “Hundreds of institutions are leveraging Modo Campus® to help students navigate campus life. Our no-code platform enables you to create value across the entire student journey, all while decreasing campus resources spent delivering mobile technology. Institutions are able to accelerate innovation, deliver personalized experiences, and connect their existing technology systems into one thriving hub.”
California State University, Northridge, one of the many institutions in the California State system using the Modo platform, will continue the conversation in a session titled “Student-Driven Teams, Hackathons, and How to Drive Engagement with Gen Z.” Involving students throughout the process of developing a mobile strategy is crucial to delivering an app students find useful. Kyle Shaver, IT Interim Assistant Director, Web & Emerging Technology, will speak about how CSUN has leveraged student involvement with student-driven app development.
The presenters demonstrate the breadth of universities, from large R1 institutions to community colleges, deploying mobile to address the growing need to deliver tools that help students navigate the higher ed system. In addition, joining Modo Labs in their booth are the University of Central Florida and Old Dominion University with lighting sessions on topics such as promoting special events, personalizing communications, increasing enrollment and retention, and driving ROI.
Meet Modo Labs at Booth 1321 in the Exhibit Hall or attend one of three breakout sessions held Wednesday, October 31 and Thursday, November 1. Visit our website for more information on the session schedule.
