The BEAT100 team congratulates August 19th winners of the BEAT100 World Music Chart compilation with first place awarded to Ivana van der Veen, second Rachel Brinck, and third, DevilSkin (via filmmaker Dimi Nakov). These top three charting musicians received the most votes from BEAT100 members and, as a result, were each presented cash prizes and an international press release for their efforts.
Ivana van der Veen sweeps into first place of the World Music Chart this month, achieving her fourth win in the charts. Ivana originally won first place in February 2013 for her original music video, ‘Rain’, then again in April 2013 and May 2013 for third and first place with cover songs ‘Little Things’ and ‘Love Letters’. This month she achieved first place with her cover and music video of ‘Russian Roulette’ by Rihanna. With over 80,000 plays on her wide selection of cover and original music videos uploaded to her BEAT100 profile, Ivana is certainly a popular pick among the BEAT100 community. Regarding her fourth win, Ivana says: “I’m really happy that I won for the fourth time! BEAT100 is an amazing experience.”
Both a singer and songwriter, Ivana says she has been busy singing and dancing since a young age and will continue to perform her music while brightening listeners’ day. Ivana records and performs all of her own original music while also editing and creating her own music videos and maintaining her website: a truly independent musician! Recently performing at the Paradiso in Amsterdam as well as in London, Ivana says she was also recently featured on radio stations in Springfield, Tennessee in the USA and also in Brazil. Ivana encourages fans to visit her website, where they can review her full biography, news, events, pictures, videos, and more.
In second place this month, singer and songwriter Rachel Brinck presented her debut BEAT100 pop hit and video upload, ‘Backstage Pass’, impressing BEAT100 fans with her quality release. Though only 18 years old, the Iowa based vocalist has already achieved much, including a series of independent single hits accompanied by professionally produced music videos. Her releases, including ‘If You Want Me Now’, ‘Boom Boom Boom’, and 'Backstage Pass' all attracted attention from industry professionals and the major labels: Universal, Sony Music, and Atlantic Records. Now traveling back and forth between LA and her hometown of Sioux City, Rachel is currently recording a full album while considering offers from labels in LA and NY.
Achieving much success in just a short period, Rachel says she’s pursued her dream to become a top singer since grade school. “In third grade I decided to sing [a Hillary Duff] song at the talent show,” says Rachel, “I got up there [and sang] and I can’t describe the feeling I got… That moment right there was when I knew this is what I was going to do.” Since then, Rachel says: “I’ve been doing everything I can to make it happen,” including posting music videos on YouTube since she was 12 and constantly writing songs and practicing. “[I’ve] made sure I never gave up,” says Rachel, “That’s definitely the most important thing!” Regarding her participation on BEAT100, Rachel confirms, “My BEAT100 experience has been pretty awesome so far!”
Finally, award-winning filmmaker, Dimi Nakov, achieves third place for his upload of music video ‘Little Pills’, a release he produced and directed before its acceptance into the 2012 All Shorts Film Festival. Created by Nakov and his team at Zodiac Entertainment Production, ‘Little Pills’ features fellow New Zealand band Devilskin, a four piece metal and rock band featuring Jennie Skulander on lead vocals, The Nail on lead guitar, Paul Martin on bass, and Nic Martin on drums. Formed in 2010, the band’s sound is described as ‘organic, dynamic, and real’ as they feature powerful lead vocals, explosive guitar riffs, and powerful bass and drums. BEAT100 members can view ‘Little Pills’ via Dimi Nakov’s BEAT100 profile.
