Peter Holmqvist, Hype! and Vinny Pop Score Top Votes in the BEAT100 World Music Chart
(PRWEB) September 17, 2013 -- As September begins, BEAT100 is proud to announce the newest winners of the BEAT100 World Music Video Chart: Congratulations to Peter Holmqvist, Hype, and Vinny Pop for placing third during the September 2nd chart compilation. These three BEAT100 members received the most votes from the BEAT100 community for their original and cover music videos, resulting in cash prizes, an international press release, and tons of publicity among music fans.
In first place, Peter Holmqvist from Uppsala, Sweden achieves popularity with his original acoustic instrumental, ‘Late for Spring’. Throughout the mellow track, Peter provides an array of melodic pickings combined with bluesy riffs. Beginning guitar lessons in the 1980’s with an American guitarist, Peter began learning basics of blues finger picking, performing in a number of blues and folk ensembles in the coming years. Despite a brief setback while dealing with finger and hand aches, Peter continues to write his own acoustic instrumental songs while also including lyrics and solo electric blues guitar on occasion. Peter was even recognized as a semi-finalist in an international songwriting competition last year for an original tune, ‘Howdy Mr. Boogie.’ “Music is a big part of my life,” says Peter, “I compose from my heart; genres are not so important for me. The feeling that I’m doing something creative of my own is what gives me satisfaction.” Following his placement in the top seven on the World Music Charts a number of months ago, Peter is now happily a first place BEAT100 winner. “To win on BEAT100 feels like an important recognition of what I’ve been doing the last years,” he says.
In second place this month, ‘Hype!’ achieves their third BEAT100 win with original song and quality music video, ‘Simple Creature’, produced in collaboration with the Academy of Arts, Novi Sad, and the Belgrade School of Sound. The five-piece Serbian band, formed in 2012, consists of lead vocalist Gaga Lee, drummer Darko Kurjak, guitarist Pavle Kirćanski, bassist Miloš Kralj, and features honorary member and guitarist Dalibor Kurjak. The upbeat alternative rock band continues to impress the BEAT100 community with their energetic and catchy sound throughout their numerous releases, including ‘Erase’ and ‘Weird’, both previous BEAT100 winning music videos. As they continue to acquire a worldwide audience and increased fame, Gaga Lee says that: “A true musician isn’t paying attention to [fame], a true musician just creates because you must return the gift back into the universe which it gave to you in the first place. A musician is someone who has a strong personality, charisma, and someone who speaks the truth, is righteous, a rebel. I want to be that.”
Sydney, Australia based singer and songwriter Vinny Pop achieves third place with his original song, ‘Sweet Carina’. Released on Vinny’s new 15-track album titled ‘Let Loose’ (Now available on iTunes), ‘Sweet Carina’ encompasses a classic rock feel, resembling the Beatles and other great music of the 60s and 70s. “I love writing catchy songs that are easy to sing along too,” says Vinny, “’Sweet Carina’ is a fantastic song to launch me world wide.” The track includes an accompanying music video of Vinny singing to Australian model Clancee Erin while playing the sweet melodies of ‘Sweet Carina’. In addition to his newest album release, Vinny also wrote ‘Make a Friend Out of Me,” an anti-whaling song released in 2006 and signed to ‘SavetheWhales.org’ as one of their anthem songs.
