WASHINGTON, July 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Washington DC is the newest city to welcome Music With Friends, a one-of-a-kind music experience that brings iconic musical acts to intimate, acoustically superb venues. Local Entrepreneur Barry Feil launches Music With Friends DC this month. The membership-based concert series has been lauded by members in Charlotte and Houston for more than a decade.
The Shakespeare Theatre Company's Sidney Harman Hall, located on F Street across from Verizon Center, will be the official home of Music With Friends DC. The stunning space has a seating capacity of 760 people, but the Music With Friends DC performances will cap at 600 seats. "Members will never be more than 18 rows from the front row," says Feil. "We want everyone to experience a connection with the performers that just isn't possible in a large arena."
A graduate of George Washington University, Feil has been in the DC area since the 1980's and served as CEO of Celebrate Fairfax for nearly 15 years. His experience running the non-profit organization, with its three major festivals, community outreach programming, and extensive management responsibilities - along with his knowledge of the DC area and love for music - put him in an ideal position to bring Music With Friends to DC.
Members reserve their seats for three evenings a year. Each experience starts with a pre-show cocktail and networking party, featuring premium bars and heavy hors d'oeuvres. This is followed by an exclusive concert where members enjoy performances by world-class artists in an intimate theater setting, enjoying the stories, magic, and spontaneity of a smaller stage. Members may then attend an after party meet and greet, where - on more than one occasion - the artists have taken part in the post-show festivities. The annual membership includes before and after parties, the performance itself, and underground parking that is just an elevator ride to the theater, and the earlier a member joins the more seating choices will be available.
Artists will be chosen with input from members. Past performers in Charlotte and Houston include greats like the Steve Miller Band, Foreigner, ZZ Top, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Kenny Loggins, and many more. Overlap between cities is possible, but artists will be chosen with unique DC audiences in mind. The first concert is slated for the spring of 2020, and founding members will have the exclusive opportunity to help choose the first artists to grace the Music With Friends DC stage.
Feil believes DC is the right place to introduce this concept. "DC is home to an audience who truly appreciates what an extraordinary experience this can be. Seeing legendary artists in such an intimate setting is like having a private concert just for members and their friends," he said. "I'm excited to bring this opportunity to my hometown."
The three annual shows include two fall and one spring dates, chosen during the week so as not to compete with other larger venues, as well as avoiding typical travel and vacation times such as summer and winter holidays.
