MyHome Completes Open and Airy Midtown East Apartment Renovation
New York, NY (PRWEB) July 20, 2016 -- MyHome, the Manhattan-based renovation company, recently completed a full apartment renovation at 300 East 54th Street in Manhattan. The project was designed by Ji Sun Park and managed by MyHome Remodeling Consultant, Andrew Rooney. Rooney and his team were tasked with completely transforming a dark, dreary and dated apartment into a home that felt extremely clean and light with open, airy spaces.
Buying their first apartment, the homeowners wished for something more their own style. With a baby on the way, it became clear now was the time to renovate. Midtown East is not known for its modern apartments, but with the tastes of the homeowner and the clean aesthetic of our designer, MyHome brought the apartment current without going too sleek and modern.
The homeowners need to create a new room for the baby. This was accomplished by erecting wall that served two purposes. It separated the kitchen from the rest of the living space and create an extra room to serve as the nursery.
To fulfill the homeowner’s desire for an open floor plan, Rooney decided to forego wall cabinetry on one wall of the kitchen. Instead, custom floating shelves were installed in a high-gloss white lacquer. The floating shelves were paired with a custom Grey finish on the rest of the cabinetry and Pure White countertops from Caesarstone that pulled the kitchen together.
When riser pipes were discovered in a wall the homeowner wanted to demolish, Rooney and his team had to rethink the kitchen on the fly. They added a cabinet to conceal the pipes and the homeowners were thrilled.
Keeping with a grey and white theme throughout the apartment, a custom floating vanity was installed in the master bathroom with high-gloss white lacquer with a silver edge detail. This complemented the chrome Riobel shower fixtures. The use of an efficient Toto toilet was a great example of pairing quality items with high function.
This apartment had everything original. The Parquet floors were not kept up well, and black marble floors made the space feel dated. To give the apartment a dramatic feel, durable white oak floors with a dark brown stain were installed throughout. This play on color made the apartment feel bigger and more modern.
