nablet has released meXpress, a powerful yet simple-to-use transcoder for Windows. The new product is powered by the nablet mediaEngine transcoder, and supports most common broadcast and production formats.

nablet, a leading provider of media processing technologies, announced today that it has released meXpress, a powerful yet simple-to-use transcoder for Windows. The new product is powered by the nablet mediaEngine transcoder, and supports most common broadcast and production formats.

meXpress has a user-friendly interface and watch folder functionality for automated processing. It also supports growing MXF in both directions: transcoding MXF while copying, or accessing a growing file from another tool while being transcoded.

Supported formats include:

  • Avid DNxHD and DNxHR
  • Sony XAVC Intra and XAVC Long GOP
  • Sony XDCAM HD and XDCAM EX
  • Panasonic AVC-Intra, AVC-LongG, P2, DVCPRO HD
  • Panasonic HEVC LongGOP

“meXpress is a simple but powerful transcoder application that supports the most widely used video profiles in broadcast,” said Adriano Gaeta, SVP Product at nablet. “meXpress uses our mediaEngine (mE) transcoder, which integrates the latest optimized nablet codecs and processing technologies. Many customers rely on mediaEngine, and they now have an easy-to-use tool with a user interface that supports their existing presets for quick creation of files in their facilities.”

The mediaEngine transcoding engine is used in several well-known products in the broadcast industry, and includes nablet codecs which are well known in Avid plugins and other integrations. meXpress presets are up-compatible with mediaEngine v2.2 and above, and can be easily adjusted and extended if required. The included nablet XAVC codec has been Sony certified since day one of its release several years ago.

The initial version of meXpress supports file-based transcoding only. RAW Video import and export, SDI and streaming support are planned for a future release in fall 2019.

meXpress is available at a special IBC price of US$ 299 through September 17, and US$ 399 afterward. It is a free upgrade for existing mediaEngine v2 users.
