NAIOP San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Names Prologis, Inc. its First Diversity Champion of the Year
NAIOP San Francisco Bay Area Chapter (NAIOP SFBA), the premier commercial real estate development association, bestowed its inaugural Diversity Champion of the Year Award on Prologis, Inc., the global leader in logistics real estate, at its seventh annual Best of the Bay Awards on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco. Gayle Starr, Managing Director, accepted the award on behalf of Prologis.
SAN FRANCISCO, March 12, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Founded in 2012, the Best of the Bay Awards is the annual flagship event for NAIOP SFBA. The program recognizes Bay Area commercial real estate companies and professionals that distinguish themselves among their peers for a wide range of accomplishments. New on the slate of award categories this year, the Diversity Champion Award recognizes the company whose diversity and inclusion practices best exemplify leadership in the industry. The Chapter established a Diversity & Inclusion Task Force in 2018 with the mission of providing leadership, infrastructure, and a forum to share perspectives and best practices for diversity and inclusion in Bay Area Commercial Real Estate.
Prologis was honored for embracing diversity and inclusion as one of the core pillars of its corporate mission. Internally, the company's diversity and inclusion efforts address the full cycle of a career, from pipeline and hiring through retention and advancement. Externally, Prologis sponsors the annual Inclusion in CRE Scholarship which, in association with NAIOP, is awarded to up to 10 women and underrepresented professionals who demonstrate leadership and responsibility in the Commercial Real Estate Profession. It has also partnered with Urban Land Institute's Women's Leadership Initiative and the Forte Foundation, a nonprofit consortium of leading companies and top business schools working together to launch women into fulfilling careers through access to education, opportunities and a network of successful mentors.
"Prologis believes that diverse teams serve clients better and build stronger companies. In fact, our inclusion and diversity initiatives form a key component of Prologis' Five Drivers, our strategic blueprint to ensure enduring excellence and create sustainable competitive advantage," said Gayle Starr, Managing Director at Prologis, Inc. "We are grateful to NAIOP for helping raise awareness on this critical issue. Their efforts in this area will surely help strengthen the future of our industry."
"Friendly competition is part of our tradition and I am delighted to present our inaugural award to a company driving inspiring positive change in the industry," said Margo Bradish, Partner, Cox, Castle & Nicholson, LLP and NAIOP SFBA Diversity & Inclusion Task Force Chair. "I challenge the leaders of all our member companies to draw on that inspiration and commit to taking one concrete step to promote diversity and inclusion within their organizations."
