National Association of Professional Women Inducts Kelly Bailey, CEO of Sweet Adelines International, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) July 30, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Dr. Kelly Bailey as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Kelly into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her perseverance, work ethic and leadership qualities are an inspiration to all women.”
The CEO of Sweet Adelines International, Dr. Bailey oversees an organization of 23,000 female members across five continents as it advances the musical art form of barbershop acappella harmony through education, competition and performance. Three years ago, she stepped down as a Vice President at a prominent private university to take on this challenging role. Her many responsibilities include managing a worldwide staff and volunteers, creating and implementing the organization’s short- and long-term vision, forming and enacting best practices, establishing a culture of efficiency and effectiveness, and acting as a direct liaison between the board of directors and staff.
Dr. Bailey has cultivated a culture of cost savings for the nonprofit, establishing new policies and procedures that have saved the organization over $1 million. Additionally, her creative means of strategic fiscal planning have increased non-dues revenue. She says these positive results are among her greatest points of professional pride.
“The most exciting thing about my job is to be able to see an idea come to fruition; to think of a strategic plan, to work out the details among some of the most talented people in the business and then work through the details to see the plan become reality and ultimately change lives,” she said.
A self-described “people person,” Dr. Bailey loves having a microphone and a spotlight so she can tell people about the power of Sweet Adelines International and how the organization makes a difference in the lives of women every day.
Dr. Bailey’s future goals are to grow the nonprofit to 50,000-plus members and to complete an ASAE “Certified Association Executive” certification. She also enjoys speaking to groups about the power and potential of women in the workplace, as well as on creative problem solving, teaming, leadership development and understanding the power of individual contribution.
