National Association of Professional Women Announces Victoria Bowens, Dir. Diversity and Inclusion Management, US Dept. of the Navy, a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) April 07, 2015 -- NAPW honors Colonel (RET) Victoria L. Bowens, USAF as a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Bowens is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with nearly 700,000 members and over 200 Local Chapters.
When Victoria Bowens decided to enter the Air Force 27 years ago, a world of opportunity opened for her. The human resources arena became her milieu as she took on numerous leadership roles from management to executive level. During her military career, she honed her skills in workforce planning, training and development, strategic planning, and program and project management.
“I held as many as 15 positions at ten locations,” said Ms. Bowens. Key roles with the Department of Defense in the continental US and abroad have included Chief, Personnel Division for one of the Air Force's largest headquarters located at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton Virginia; Senior Military Advisor for the Director of Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity; Chief, Process for Accreditation of Joint Education; Directorate of Operational Plans and Joint Force Development, and a team member of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon. She also served as Principal Joint Staff liaison to Congress on Joint Professional Military Education matters. Currently, Ms. Bowens is Director, Diversity and Inclusion Management for the Department of the Navy.
Ms. Bowens has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management, a Master of Arts in Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Arts in Military Operational Art and Science from Air University.
