In the next three years, I hope to complete two to three new projects.

The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Joohyun Her as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in architecture. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.

“It gives me great pleasure to present Joohyun with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her work is inspiring and invaluable at a time of changing demographics within the US.”

Growing up, Ms. Her always dreamed of doing something creative. When she spotted an architecture student with drawings and drafting tools, she became curious and eventually decided to pursue a career in that field. After earning an undergraduate degree in Architecture from Sungkyunkwan University, Ms. Her went on to complete her Master’s from Texas A&M University.

For more than a decade, Ms. Her diligently honed her industry skills, most recently working as a senior designer in a large architectural firm. Two years ago, she made the bold leap to entrepreneurship and opened Jh2 Architects. “My role is owner/principal. I am the design director, project architect and account manager,” she said. “I meet with clients and handle all of the marketing, as well.” From communicating with clients to solving overall design issues, Ms. Her strives to continually achieve end results that satisfy all of her clients’ needs, while staying true to the highest architectural standards. As for the future, she will continue to grow her business.

“In the next three years, I hope to complete two to three new projects. I also want to work on additional public projects, including those that benefit minorities,” she said.
