National Association of Professional Women Inducts Marsha L. Witherspoon, CDFA, Business Manager at Cole & Denny Incorporated, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 22, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAP W) honors Marsha L. Witherspoon as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. NAPW is the nation's leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
"I'm pleased to present Marsha with this important honor," said NAPW President Star Jones. "Her knowledge and experience in business are valuable assets to her clients and community."
Before joining Cole & Denny Inc., an architectural, planning and interior design firm, Ms. Witherspoon had a thriving career in banking that was cut short during the industry’s downturn. “I started on that career path as a management trainee and progressed to Vice President, before being laid off during the spate of bank mergers and acquisitions in the 1990’s,” she said.
Ms. Witherspoon soon found a new job at Cole & Denny, and since 2005, she has been the company's Business Manager. She is responsible for overseeing the efficient, day-to-day operations of the office, and handles everything from accounts payable and receivable to administrative tasks to human resource management. She also ensures various federal and /or state employment laws and requirements, works closely with the outside accountant and assists the architectural staff as needed.
The most rewarding aspect of her career, said Ms. Witherspoon, is to see a project go from concept to finished product. “As a numbers person, I find the creative process fascinating,” she added. “To be able to visualize a space, prepare the drawings and ensure all code and client requirements are met is an amazing skill to me.” Looking forward to eventually retiring in about two years, she said “I have enjoyed both my careers, but it’s time to explore what the future holds for my retirement years.”
