National Association of Professional Women Announces Barbara G. Caufield, Aerospace Engineer at Federal Aviation Administration, a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year

"I've been doing this job in one capacity or another for 31 years and still find it exciting,” said Barbara Caufield, who always rises to the occasion in her position as an Aerospace Engineer with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Her responsibilities as an Aerospace Engineer at the FAA require her to keep the public safe and she is humbled by her title.
Without Ms. Caufield’s expertise, traveling by air would be less safe. She performs a vital function for the public who frequent airline travel. She ensures the safety of aircraft engines, covering all aspects of the engine design, certification and continued air worthiness, specifically working in tandem with OEM, reading and interpreting test plans and reports, analyses and data, including witnessing engine tests.
Ms. Caufield received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Northeastern University. Her current position with the FAA fully utilizes the scholarship, dedication and aspirations for success according to her personal standards of excellence that have earned her this recognition from NAPW, honoring her as a woman who has already established herself as a leader and mentor in her profession.
