National Association of Professional Women Inducts Cara Vasquez, Owner / Pastry Chef at The Flour Shop Bakery, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) August 04, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Cara Vasquez as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and
over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“It gives me great pleasure to present Cara with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “She used her expertise to build a successful business enterprise.”
When contemplating her career path after high school graduation, Ms. Vasquez, who grew up baking with her mother, was encouraged to look into culinary school.
“I attended El Centro College for Baking / Pastry, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made,” said Ms. Vasquez. “I then worked for 10 years as a Baker and Bakery Manager, gaining the experience needed to run a kitchen, and ultimately, a business.”
On June 27, 2011, Ms. Vasquez’s lifelong dream of opening a bakery came true. She is now the successful Owner of The Flour Shop Bakery in Highland Village, TX, where she leads an entire team of baking professionals in creating a full array of delectable treats. Aside from her delightful flavors and stunning presentation, Ms. Vasquez prides herself on maintaining all of the traditions she learned in her mother’s kitchen—including using no artificial flavors or mixes.
“My favorite thing is when people tell me that something I made tastes like something their grandma used to make, something they haven’t had in years. Being able to bring back those memories for my customers through something I baked means the world to me,” she said.
Ms. Vasquez’s future plans include gaining strong business connections with women in her industry and area and growing The Flour Shop Bakery to become a nationally recognized name.
“I don’t consider baking as a job; it’s a hobby that I am lucky enough to be able to do for a living,” she said. “I love being a small business owner, and although there are many challenges, this has been one of the best decisions I have ever made!”
