NAPW Announces Dr. Karen Asher, VP, Risk Manager / Credit Officer, Enterprise Payments Risk Management at KeyBank, N.A., a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) December 16, 2014 -- The National Association of Professional Women honors Karen M. Asher, Ph.D., M.B.A., as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Dr. Asher is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in finance. “My skills and areas of expertise include design and implementation of overall risk management process for the bank, enhancing and developing enterprise-wide analysis and reporting and monitoring in support of the bank’s enterprise-wide risk management initiatives,” says Dr. Asher.
As Vice President, Risk Manager and Credit Officer, Enterprise Payments Risk Management at KeyBank, N.A., Dr. Asher is instrumental in maintaining the financial institution’s enterprise-wide risk issues. Responsible for keeping management abreast of the bank’s risk operations, she oversees the completion and submission of various risk management reports and expertly manages staff. Dr. Asher is also accountable for maintaining and improving the bank’s credit quality. “As a credit officer, I ensure that everything I approve conforms to internal policy and outside regulation,” says Dr. Asher. “I make certain that credit requests reflect a balanced and detailed assessment of the risk proffered for the proposed client relationship and the bank.”
In addition to her work at KeyBank, N.A., Dr. Asher has also lent her time and expertise to two nonprofits: ClearView Center and Equinox. She would like to continue to give back to her community and also hopes to use her skills and experience to “train business leaders to consider cultural implications of entering emerging markets.”
