National Association of Professional Women Announces Deb Burgess, Senion VP/Dir. Treasury Management, First Niagara Financial Group, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year

Ms. Burgess is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in Finance. Deb Burgess is a 28-year banking industry veteran, with a background in treasury management. She is a strong visionary leader who is skilled at setting strategic direction, and leading product management teams through the planning, development, implementation and successful delivery of a wide variety of cash management products. Prior to joining First Niagara, Ms. Burgess spent four years at Santander’s / Sovereign Bank in Boston, Massachusetts, where she served as a Senior Vice President and Director of Product Management for payables and receivables, lockbox customer service and implementation.
While at Sovereign Bank, Ms. Burgess increased product revenue by double digits, redesigned the bank’s entire suite of lockbox services and introduced new products and services to small business customers. While employed with Wachovia Bank (currently Wells Fargo), she managed a team of more than 30 treasury professionals within the bank’s Treasury Services Division in Charlotte, North Carolina. She also held leadership positions at Bank of America, Nations Bank and Fleet Bank where she began her career in Operations.
Ms. Burgess is currently a member of The Association of Financial Professionals (AFP) and the Treasury Association of New England (TMANE).
