“I’m pleased to welcome Emily Wehbe-Sturgeon into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge of law is inspiring and invaluable.”
Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Ms. Wehbe-Sturgeon obtained her law degree from California Western School of Law and was admitted to the California Bar in 1990. A Civil Litigation and Trial Attorney, Ms. Wehbe-Sturgion manages cases that range from a “simple slip and fall” to more complex ones that involve multiple parties and serious injuries.
“I’ve always been fascinated with the legal world in the US,” says Ms. Wehbe-Sturgeon, Partner at Sturgeon & Wehbe LLP. “I’ve always admired it.”
Ms. Wehbe-Sturgeon has been practicing law in southern California for more than 20 years and her intense interest in the American judicial system has not wavered. She says she finds jury trials to be the most fascinating. “It’s the way the whole system works, the selection, the participation of the jurors. No system works like that. It’s the best judicial system in the world.”
While she has fulfilled her long-held dream of becoming an American lawyer, Ms. Wehbe-Sturgeon is now working toward her next goal: becoming a judge. "In California, you can either apply to be a judge or run for election," she says. Determined to achieve her new career objective, she has already handed in her application and is more than prepared to campaign for the position, if necessary. “I will not give up on my dream!” says Ms. Wehbe-Sturgeon.
