National Association of Professional Women Inducts Karunya Nathan, Student at Colby College, Into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 22, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Karunya Nathan as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in academics. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“It gives me great pleasure to present Karunya with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “She’s an exceptional young woman who shows so much promise.”
Karunya Nathan has not yet graduated from college but has already accomplished much. A Junior at Colby College in Waterville, ME, she is majoring in Biochemistry and Studio Art and is a Bunche Scholar, a designation allocated to the school’s minority students “who demonstrate scholastic strength and leadership potential.”
In addition to her studies, Ms. Nathan is passionate about supporting a number of student-run organizations. “In service to the community, my attention is focused on social activism pursuits that join philanthropy and creative artistic expression,” she said. She is a member of the Pugh Community Board, which promotes multiculturalism and understanding at Colby College, and an Executive Board Member of Woman of Color Alliance, which spreads awareness about issues faced by women of color. She is also an active member of the Learning Differences Task Force and Colby College Feminist Alliance.
A talented artist, Ms. Nathan excels at drawing and painting. She is looking for opportunities to challenge and grow her creative, visual and problem-solving skills. “My professional goals are to continue to explore my creative strengths and gifts with the ultimate intention of aligning with a fulfilling creative focus,” she said.
