National Association of Professional Women Announces Carmel T. Ross, Marriage and Family Therapist at Heaven Sent Consultation, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 30, 2014 -- NAPW honors Carmel T. Ross, Marriage and Family Therapist at Heaven Sent Consultation, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Ross is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in marriage and family counseling. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
Inspired to go into the field of psychology by a beloved mentor, Carmel Ross chose to specialize in marriage and family therapy, which would encompass individual, family, child and teen parenting counseling. Now a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Ms. Ross is licensed and practices in the state of California. Ms. Ross attended San Jose State University and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1997. In 1999, she attended Cal State University Hayward and obtained a Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Cross Cultural Training in 2001.
Ms. Ross completed her mental health training through various placements, such as residential group home for adolescents that were involved in the judicial system. She was a counselor at Telecare Villa Fairmont Mental Health Rehabilitation Center in San Leandro, working with dual-diagnosis adults, and at Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center where she worked in the field of infant mental health, teen parenting therapeutic case management, individual counseling, family counseling, couples counseling, crisis counseling, and school-based counseling. Ms. Ross also has experience in grief and bereavement counseling. “Through my work I bring compassion, a sense of humor, sensitivity and discretion, honesty and respect,” says Ms. Ross, whose faith has been a source of great strength throughout her life.
Ms. Ross is currently involved with the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, East Bay Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the Bay Area Black Mental Health Professional Network and Therapist of Color Peer Support Consultation Group.
