National Association of Professional Women Announces Denise Orr, Quality Engineering Consultant at The Productivity Team, LLC, a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) February 03, 2015 -- NAPW honors Denise Orr as a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Orr is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in engineering. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and over 200 Local Chapters.
“I started drafting when I was in high school for a small company,” says Ms. Orr. “I learned about engineering and had a lot of on-the-job training.”
Ms. Orr subsequently decided to obtain a degree in engineering. She went to school at night, worked during the day at a number of engineering firms, and went on to get two Bachelor of Science degrees from Lawrence Technological University, one in Electrical Engineering and the other in Math and Computer Science. Ms. Orr also has her Master of Business Administration in International Marketing from Wayne State University.
Currently, Ms. Orr is a Quality Engineering Consultant with The Productivity Team, an established engineering service and training firm. In her role, Ms. Orr works with customers to ensure they have the necessary tools, processes and knowledge transfer they need to be successful. Certified in Six Sigma Green Belt and Lean implementation strategies, Ms. Orr’s other areas of expertise include leading engineering governance processes, product development, program execution and providing leadership development while supporting continuous process improvement.
Ms. Orr will continue to consult for now, and then plans to seek a more permanent position, perhaps as a Director of Engineering. A member of the Empowering Women's Network, Ms. Orr is passionate about helping young professionals in the industry and enjoys mentoring engineers who are just beginning their careers.
