National Association of Professional Women Announces Rhonda Armstead, VP Senior Employment Counsel, Horace Mann Companies, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year

Rhonda Armstead spent nearly 20 years in the Corporate Law Department of Horace Mann, the elite independent college preparatory school located in Riverdale, NY. “As a direct report to General Counsel, I was responsible and accountable for the delivery of legal services to the corporation,” said Ms. Armstead.
During her tenure at Horace Mann, Ms. Armstead’s roles included Corporate Secretary of the affiliated Broker-Dealer Company, Assistant Corporate Secretary for the Holding Company (HMN), Insider Trading Compliance Officer and Equity Compensation Compliance Officer. Her responsibilities included complex contract review and negotiations, reviewing and providing legal advice on compliance issues to the Corporate Plan Administrator on ERISA pension plans, health and welfare plans, deferred compensation plans, all employment related matters and complex corporate litigation.
Currently, Ms. Armstead provides expert legal advice and counsel in the area of employment law for the corporation. She is responsible for employment-related litigation management, investigations, corporate compliance, market conduct, unemployment compensation, personnel policies, handbooks and diversity and inclusion.
